Drive-By Hebrew Numanuma explanations

I can't help but find it funny when looking through the site stats that the thing that brings the most people here is. . .numanuma.

So thank you to the anonymous numanuma fancier in the comments who gave at least an idea of the context for the Hebrew parody.

Re: Israeli Lyrics

A large portion of the song is... difficult to translate. The chorus, however, is

"Hapizmon Zeh Numa Numa Yeh/
Lo Meivin Milah, Okei."

"The chorus is 'Numa Numa'
I don't understand a word, okay?"

Other parts of the song translate but I'm not clear on the connection and I think that chorus might be the answer.

"Mah-ya he, Mah-ya ha...Die Kvar."
"Mah-ya he, Mah-ya ha...enough already."

This is better than I can say for my otherwise-very-nice friend Neil, who was so upset at having the song stuck in his head he refused to translate it.

Before his brain exploded, I did manage to get out of Neil that the people in the videos are celebrities in Israel, but he could not identify them (he's lived here for several years). From the Feujcity site, I gather the blonde woman in the toy car is a singer named Roni, and Neil identified the bald gentleman as a popular comedian.

More numanuma as it happens.

the people in the band are not famous celebrities in israel. They are a recent band called kochvei Pestigal 2004, that is generally a israeli techno band, sort of like the O-Zone of Romania who originally made the song.

Actually, several are famous even outside Israel. The blonde woman in white is Orna Datz, the man making tea is her husband Moshe. They are considered the #1 singing duo in Israel, and were the Israeli representatives in the 1991 Eurovision song contest. The balding man is Tuvia (Or Tuvya, I've seen it both ways) Tzafir, a comedian and actor who has made several children's videos. (The Jungle Book) The man who is coughing in the middle of the trio is Oded Menashe, a children's actor. Then there is Roni, who evidently doesn't use a last name at least not that I've found. They are not a band, but were the cast of Festigal 2004, a children's show for Chanukah, for which Numa Numa was the theme song.

P.S. Kochvei means stars so Kochvei Pestigal 2004 are "The Stars of Festigal 2004"

Guess what? Roni does have a last name. Her commercial name is "Roni Superstar." How's that for cool? Her real last name is Douani. More names, the two guys flanking Oded while he coughs are Harel Ska'at and Harel Moyal, actors. The girl in the dark pink dress that Tuvya sings at through the bullhorn I believe is Agam Rodberg, an actress. Also, the two girls with dark hair are Maya Buskila and Ninette Teib. I can't believe how much time I've spent looking at this, but I was so curious as to who they were. Almost every web page I've found is completely in Hebrew and I'm not even Jewish.

Hey I loved that Numa Numa song. I found a flash for it a while ago. Thanks for this page. Now I know who they are. Also, I think Roni's last name is Duani

Hey Everyone,
I totally fell in love with this song, both Romanian and Hebrew versions, and listen to it every day. I know I should stop...before my Network Admin. finds this out.
Greatest thanks to everyone who provided information!

Ok everyone here goes,
The people in the "Numa Numa Hey" video are mostly Israeli pop celebrities, who are very popular amongst the children and teenagers of Israel. As previously noted, the couple in their lates 30's/early 40's are Moshe and Orna Datz, often nicknamed "Datzim", for they are most likely the most popular singing duet; they have made numerous childrens sing-along videos. Harel Moyal and Harel Skaat, who are flanking their friend Oded Menashe, came into 1st and 2nd place in Kochav Nolad 2 (Israeli version of American/Pop Idol), respectively. The young blond singer, often just called Roni or RoniSuperstar, is one of the most famous rising singers in Israel (nicknamed after her breakout song "Superstar"). The shorter, very pretty girl, is Agam Rodberg, a very famous, young actress. Ninet Tayeb is in the white dress, and her real life boyfriend, Ran Danker, is the guy who asks for beer (later seend together). Ninet won the first Kochav Nolad, and Ran is an actor. Maya Buskila is another Israeli singer, who wore the white tube top and pink skirt. The group of three men who sing together and look funny, are a trio appropriately dubbed "Prozac", who do sing. Tuviya Tzafir is also a veteran in the childrens entertainment business. I hope I haven't forgot anyone. Anyway, all these singers/actors/comedians were all in the 2004 Festigal, and made a parody music video for O-zone's "Dragostea din tei", which was heard 24/7 on Israeli radio. Hope I filled you all in. By the way, it took me 4 months to learn who each person is, but I'm so happy I did. Hope all this information was of some help.....

Harel Skaat and Harel Moyal are both singers, and both Kochav Nolad winners, both with brand new albums in 2006 and both wonderful and good looking.
Ran Danker and Ninet are no longer dating but she is dating Jagger from Yossi and Jagger (Yehuda Levi). Agam is a super model in Israeli terms and I believe she has been seen with Leonardo DeCaprio?? but not 100%
